Today is the cooling day and yet its the most thought provoking day to me. I didnt want to post anything about the election initially but i really 'buay tahan' anymore.
I applauded the youngsters in my generation to be more engaged in the election rallies, some even thanked facebook for its technology if not they would have been apathetic. I personally didnt really follow up much with the rally. Sometimes I would even skip the election parts in the newspapers.
I know there is no right or wrong to it, its so subjective. But I still rolled my eyes at times after seeing some comments.
We grow up knowing PAP and no other parties only until elections then we know the existence of other parties. Having no other parties to compare much since it has been PAP ruling for as long as I know, it is difficult to comment much on whether PAP has been doing well or bad.
Yes, things do happen like floods in orchard, the influx of foreign 'talents', the housing prices, or even Mas Selamat. But if given another party to rule the country, I doubt that these situations can be much avoided.
But afterall, the PAP does have credits for what Singapore is now. Safe environment, good education system, good housing scheme (HDB although building HDB was a mistake initially), racial harmony etc. Maybe the situation could have been better if ruled under another party. I don't know. But then it may be even worse.
Despite that, I don't think PAP deserve harsh comments on them. I agree that PAP is getting a little arrogant, and i really hope that they have learnt to be much more humble after all these commotion. I also agree that Tin Tin is weak, but we shouldn't let it overshadow the other members. Same goes to Seah Seah, just because she's gd does not mean the party is gd (the party is depending on her.. that sounds weak).
All are just talks. I just need to find a gd speaker, and speak with some sincerity to win the hearts of citizens to vote for my party. Sometimes i think rallies are a little bullshit. Look at the past elections. The citizens also went through rallies, handshaking sessions, and voted wisely. But how now? the citizens are still disgrunted. Then the parties will forever promise things like HDB upgrading, more dustbins etc. But isnt this what is expected of a government in the first place? Can't they offer better things like setting up patrol sessions, having more community activities, attracting more nice hawker centres etc? I dont know... i can't think of acitivites but surely the government can do more than this?
I know that my friends are all slamming the PAP. So harsh. Chill. Why so agitated? You don't even live in that area. Let the citizens in that area to decide.
Im also in no position to comment much since i have always been in the AMK area and not know ing what the other citizens have gone through in their estates. People, vote wisely. If you think the opposition party deserves a chance, then just go ahead. Be objective.
By now you could have guessed who im voting for tomorrow (FYI its PAP vs RP tmr... what do you think?). But I have to say, I really dont want Tin Tin to be in the PAP, and she has 'cheapened' kate spade. Yuck. She was from HCJC, oh i dont want to acknowledge her as my senior.
